In AWR Reports I could see in the 3rd line as follow

Host Name Platform CPUs Cores Sockets Memory (GB)
Devsv1 Solaris[tm] OE (64-bit) 11 3 1 32.00
----


What does this 'Sockets' means? Where we can find the setting for this 'Sockets' in DB?
What happen if we increase the number of 'Sockets'?

It's a hardware thing. Sockets on a board.

Hmm... What is the purpose of this Sockets? What happen if we increase it to 2 or 3 ?

It's not a database setting, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CPU_socket is the kind of thing it is.
